The Okanagan Military Museum, located inside the Memorial Arena, opened in 1999 with a mission to collect, protect, preserve, and present the Okanagan Valley's proud military heritage. In 2006 the Okanagan Military Museum became part of the Kelowna Museums Society which is a non-profit and charitable organization. |
The Okanagan Military Museum works to increase public awareness and understanding of Canada's military heritage through guided visits and educational programs for all ages, as well as themed exhibitions focusing on military regalia. The Museum houses a significant collection of military artefacts such as small arms, insignia, uniforms, badges, and equipment. The Okanagan Military Museum also has annual Remembrance Day programming.
The Okanagan Military Museum houses a growing Archive and Reference Library that is open for public research.
