The purpose of the Arts Council of the North Okanagan (ACNO) is to stimulate, encourage, support and develop the varied artistic and cultural projects and activities in the Greater Vernon area by performing the following activities: operating the Vernon Community Arts Centre (pursuant to the agreement with the City of Vernon and NORD signed May 1, 2000) accepting, managing, investing and pursuing funds and property of every kind for the ongoing operation and maintenance of the Council and its properties. helping to coordinate the work and programs of members and member groups in the area. increasing and broadening the opportunities for Greater Vernon citizens to enjoy and participate in artistic activities. acting as an advocate for community arts in the area publishing a periodical arts newsletter and maintaining a current website. Members of the ACNO (individuals, families and groups) receive information about upcoming courses and workshops offered at the Vernon Community Arts Centre, as well as our informative bi-monthly newsletter, Artscene which highlights upcoming events in the community and surrounding areas. Members are entitled to a discount on all courses offered at the Centre, and are invited to attend VCAC annual general meeting. The Council also publishes a monthly events listing calendar, the Link with a web presence at www.theartslink.blogspot.com .
