The Kelowna Kiwanis Music Festival was founded in 1926 as the Okanagan Valley Music Festival. It became a tr-city event in 1936 with Vernon, Penticton and Kelowna taking turns hosting the event. In 1981 the Kiwanis Clubs became the sponsor and they continued their involement since. The mandate of the Festival is to provide opportunities for amateur and/or youn performing artists to demonsstrate their achievements in Music, Dance and Speech Arts to their peers and to the community; to provide constructive professional evaluations of their performances. Competitions are offered in Dance, both Ballet and Stage; Piano; Voice;Strings; Vocal; Speech Arts; Choral; Woodwind/Brass; Bands/Orchestra with top-rated adjudicators from BC and Alberta.
