OKANAGAN WRITERS' LEAGUE Okanagan Writers' League (OWL) was formed to showcase and market the published works of Okanagan Valley authors. In filling these previous promotional and marketing gaps, Okanagan Writers' League now serves both the needs of individual authors and other organizations of writers. The organization takes on as many activities as its members can visualize and man. Okanagan Writers' League accepted the invitation to represent literary arts under the umbrella of the Arts Council of the Central Okanagan (ARTSCO), an informational clearing house for the Okanagan arts community. ARTSCO provides individual and group support through grants, website space and directory, the Okanagan Arts Magazine, and community connections. Through these connections, eVent Magazine now features OWL writers bi-monthly. The Okanagan Regional Library System has provided library contacts for OWL members who wish to showcase their work. See articles at http://www.artsco.ca/literary.php OWL has represented the Literary Arts at Lake Country's Art Walk for the past two years. OWL also provides peer coaching for public readings. MEMBERSHIP Okanagan Writers' League welcomes published authors of the entire region, including those who are self-published. However, because the group represents only well-written material of general interest, prospective exhibitors must submit samples and accept the decision of OWL jurors regarding the suitability of their work. OWL membership is $20 annually and that entitles members to full ARTSCO as well as OWL benefits. As much as possible, OWL tries to defer meetings in favour of email communications.
